Design Thinking and Empathy in the Workplace
By Geoff Bickford
Welcome to our SovTech DevChat series, where we invite external and in-house guests to talk about their favourite things, experiences or expertise. These guests will share their profound knowledge of everything from Engineering, to Cryptocurrency to Finance and Business. Geoff Bickford is the series’ first guest, and will be discussing Design Thinking and Empathy in the Workplace.
Geoff has strong experience in research and has a lot of experience in the business setting. Geoff founded Lively after realising that sympathetic design thinking was in high demand across many industries. His firm focuses on research, creative thinking, and facilitation and is human-centred. Other firms can use Lively to help them solve important issues with empathy and collaboration.
Geoff discusses some of the ideas that have influenced his journey and current life, including love, process, and people. He begins with an experiment, which is an important aspect of design thinking. The experiment involves thinking in a mindset that is opposite to your own, as well as putting yourself in their shoes such as a designer or software engineer.
