What is DevOps?
DevOps describes a system that unifies and streamlines all development (Dev) and operations (Ops) into a more symbiotic relationship to facilitate the process of software development.
In the past, there were two silos, one being the developers (or the creators of the system), while the other being the operations silo, who dealt with the system or product after its creation. In modern times, the unified system of DevOps now deals with the system as a whole from creation, integration, source control, testing, releasing to deployment and infrastructure management, helping businesses create and improve software products more efficiently.
Why is DevOps important?
Integration of operations and development allows for faster thinking and rapid innovation, thereby allowing for shorter development cycle periods. These shorter development cycles also provide fewer failures and more security for product development. Integrated knowledge, ideas and problem-solving provides for quicker recovery time ensuring more reliable releases and enhanced efficiency and productivity.
The integration of successful DevOps processes also improves the software development culture, allowing for better communication and collaboration, and helps increase the developers’ productivity as they work as a whole rather than in silos. DevOps can focus on how best to integrate the business objectives into a system in a more unified manner allowing for a significantly shorter time to market, improved customer satisfaction and superior product quality.
Simple processes become increasingly programmable and dynamic when using a DevOps approach and there is an amplified ability to build the right product by fast experimentation.
DevOps aims to maximise the predictability, efficiency, security, and maintainability of operational processes. More than often, automation supports this objective.
The Benefits of DevOps
- Continuous software delivery
- Simplified automation
- Efficient problem solving

SovTech is Trending
Gone with historical complications and in with the new mode of operation. DevOps are alive and trending at SovTech, where we leverage a whole host of tools, services and best practices that help us streamline the development process into a powerful and efficient running operation. Some of the systems and tools we use include Ansible, Kubernetes and CI/CD.
Our fast-paced markets and technology today demand simple and efficient automation of cloud provisions, configuration management, application deployment and many more IT needs.
One of our FullStack developers, Yatin Badal, outlines the benefits of DevOps stating; “At SovTech, modern DevOps has greatly contributed to the success of our high-performance agile teams and has allowed us to streamline processes and continuously deliver high-quality software, rapidly.”
The software development culture is uplifted with the trend of DevOps. DevOps delivers an end-to-end software service offering fast-paced reliable and automated processes. Happier developers mean higher productivity and increased innovation with the focus now placed on the end product performance rather than an isolated goal within the process.
If you’d like to learn more about our DevOps process and how it impacts our software development process, get in touch with us and we’d happily walk you through how we go about creating high-performance custom software.
