What is Asana?
Asana is a web and mobile work management software that assists teams in organizing, tracking, and managing their projects. It is produced by the same-named firm in San Francisco. Dustin Moskovitz and Justin Rosenstein launched the firm in 2008. In April of 2012, the product was made available for purchase.
The History of Asana
When Dustin Moskovitz and Justin Rosenstein met at Facebook, they were both managing engineering teams. As Facebook developed (and grew quickly), they noticed that everyone was sitting in meetings, responding to emails, and searching for information for more than half of the day. Work that required competence was taking a backseat to “work about work.”
As a result, Dustin and JR created a platform to help teams coordinate their efforts. As a result, their teams not only had more clarity about what to execute and why, but they also had more time to focus on the major ideas. JR and Dustin were enthralled. Soon after, they created Asana to devote their attention to developing solutions that would allow more teams to focus on the important work rather to the busywork.
Asana has mobile apps for iOS and Android in addition to the web app. The majority of functions are available on mobile, although they may vary depending on device kind and whether you're using our full web app.
Work, project and task
Organize your activities, meetings, and programs into common projects using lists or kanban boards. For you and your team, break work down into manageable chunks. Break a task down into smaller chunks or demonstrate additional methods to achieve a larger task. Assign tasks to a clear owner so that everyone understands who is in charge. To keep jobs organized or to match your workflow stages, group tasks into sections or columns in a list or board project (respectively). Create custom fields in projects and Portfolios that are drop-down, number, or text to gather information uniformly, track status, and sort and filter data (like spreadsheet columns.) You can also be notified when custom fields are modified.
To keep everyone and everything connected, comment directly on a task to describe exactly what needs to be done, and mention coworkers or other work in Asana. Leave concise feedback by directly commenting on photos or PDFs that are then converted into tasks for simple tracking. Leave precise feedback on photographs so that creatives know what they need to do to finish their work. Keep the enthusiasm continuing by discussing the progress of a project. All of your team's projects will be in one location, and you'll have a spot for all-team interactions and announcements, as well as a description of your group. To make your message clearer, use rich text in larger text fields and use numbered and bulleted lists to arrange your thoughts.
Make a prioritized to-do list to help you plan your day. Only get notifications for the projects, chats, and tasks you're interested in. To actively work with your team, the grid-like structure makes it simple to create, filter, and format tasks. You can quickly find the work you need without having to spend time organizing it. To help you find job again, save searches based on specific criteria, or make assessments based on your search criteria. The resource management function in Asana gives you a single view of your team's bandwidth. It enables you to make informed staffing selections and, if necessary, redistribute responsibilities. To get a clear picture of when work is due, put any list of tasks on a Calendar.
Set, track, and manage organizational goals while tying them to work to let leads, executives, and individuals have a single source of truth. Setting task milestones as critical markers of progress will help you clarify project goals and keep your team engaged. * Organize strategic efforts and track the status of all of your essential projects in one location, either as a list or on a schedule. In seconds, create a status update to share with important stakeholders and populate Portfolios. You can also save update templates and populate updates with graphs from Dashboard. Custom real-time charts with the ability to export charts are provided to help you see where work may be blocked or off-track.
To organize your tasks and connect collaborators with a shared calendar and communications, create teams. You can also adjust the privacy settings for your team. Add teammates as followers so they may stay up to date on the task's progress and receive pertinent task notifications. In Asana, collaborate with vendors, contractors, and partners. Access to any project can be restricted, hidden teams for sensitive work can be created, or public teams and projects can be accessed by everyone in your company. Identify Organization Super Admins and Admins who will be able to add, remove, and manage members and their settings, as well as enforce password complexity. With SAML and our Admin API, Asana Enterprise customers have more power. ‡ Access to any project can be restricted, teams can be concealed for sensitive work, or teams can be made public.
