The History of Google Drive
Jonathan joined Google in 2005 after 2Web Technologies, where he was the co-founder and CEO, was acquired by Google. He co-founded Google Docs and Spreadsheets in 2006, which subsequently evolved into Google Drive. On April 24, 2012, the website was launched.
The ability to work with others on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and drawings is one of Google Drive's best features. Up to 50 individuals can work on the same document at the same time, from any location and on any device. You can see who is currently working on the document and track their progress — the days of several versions of the same document flying around are over! You may travel back in time and see which changes were made by whom and when using a revision history. As a result, you'll never have to be concerned about someone deleting something they shouldn't. There's also a more in-depth revision history that walks you through the changes in real time.
Share with people outside your organization
For viewing, commenting, and/or editing, files and folders can be shared with up to 200 email addresses. You can, however, share with persons outside of your company.
Advanced search features
If you use Google Drive frequently, you're likely to have a big number of documents saved or shared with you. It can be difficult to recall where you stored a specific document or folder. The advanced search features come in handy in this situation. You can use Google to look for files and folders that include specific words in their titles or content. Take it a step further and search for papers shared from a specific person, documents you've shared with a specific person, the type of document, documents changed on a specific date, and more using the correct search terms.
Drag and drop uploads
You can upload files manually by selecting the big red "New" button and browsing to the file you want to upload, but why spend time when you can just drag & drop them for automatic upload? If you're uploading a lot of files to your Drive, this is a tremendous time saver.
Use the mobile app to scan straight to your drive
The Google Drive app is quite convenient. Download it for free, and then when you're out and about and see something you'd like to keep to your Drive, you can scan an image with your camera and download it directly to your Drive. This is especially beneficial if you come across an advertisement, a sign, or a business card at an event.
Starred folders and files
It can be difficult to locate folders and files stored on Google Drive if you have a huge number of them. To make it easier to find the ones you need on a frequent basis, mark them with a star. Select "Add star" from the context menu when you right-click on a folder or file. You can now instantly locate them by going to the "Starred" folder. Similarly, you can look through your "Recent" folder to find the files and folders you've been working on recently.
