Take a Stroll Down Memory Lane

Every month here at SovTech HQ we showcase our latest app development projects to the company to allow our team at large the opportunity to review, test, and really just have visibility into all the exciting software being built across our development pods. This month, amongst a number of other projects, we launched Memory Lane, a web-based application with one of the most notable concepts to pass through our doors.

What is Memory Lane all about?

Memory Lane was created to celebrate life within a closed network of close friends and family either for yourself or on behalf of someone who has passed on. You can build a timeline of your life with all the milestones along the way, telling the beautiful story of the life you have lived. There is a secure “Life File” where you can store all the important documents that would be required in the event of your passing such as your will, life insurance policies etc. This way, in the event of your passing, your loved ones will be able to access all this information in one central area.

What is the objective of the app?

The objective is to create a closed network where you can view and share your stories and milestones with those closest to you. The “Life File” functions to better prepare our details for the people we leave behind in the event of our passing.

What makes it unique?

The greater idea behind this application was to move away from the stereotypical publicity-style acknowledgement of a passing that goes hand-in-hand with trying to commemorate your loved ones through social media networks such as Facebook or Instagram, and to move towards keeping those memories intimate for the people that matter the most. An interesting aspect of the application that we learnt along the way was the attention it got from the older generation as it has a place to encourage them to reminisce on their lives and upload old pictures and stories, really giving them a chance to tell their story. And this is the Memory Lane story!
